FRAY RETURNS TO AUSTIN WITH STORYTELLING CAFE The award-winning website fray.com, in cooperation with South by Southwest Interactive, announces the third-annual Fray Cafe, a night of live storytelling featuring the unique brand of personal narrative that has made {fray} one of the most celebrated sites on the web. Held during the South by Southwest Interactive gathering in Austin, Texas, Fray Cafe will spotlight both established storytellers and newcomers, with featured performers and an open mic. The event is free with a SXSW badge, $5 otherwise. "Our goal, with the web site and with events like Fray Cafe, is to get people to come out of the woodwork and tell true, personal stories," said organizer and site creator Derek Powazek. "It doesn't matter if it's online or off, happy or sad a good story is a good story." Fray Cafe is the latest in a series of live events organized by The Fray Organization. Previously, Powazek has sponsored gatherings to celebrate the anniversary of the site's creation, including Fray Day 6, which drew over a thousand people to 11 simultaneous events all over the world, including in San Francisco, Austin, Copenhagen, and Guam. Fray Cafe is open to the public and participation by the audience is greatly encouraged, but not required. Stories should be short under five minutes and they must be true. The evening will run four hours, beginning at 8pm on Sunday, March 9, at The Mercury Lounge, 214 E. 6th St. (above Jazz, the restaurant), in Austin. For further information about the {fray} please contact Derek Powazek at info@fray.org. To speak with Fray Cafe's Austin organizer, contact Michael Brown at michael@chatterwaul.com.
